Sakkarai Pongal


Ingredients (Translation)

1 cup Rice
4 tbsp Green gram dal
Water -5 cups (4 cups for ven pongal and 1 cup for jaggery)
Cashew nuts -10
4 tbsp Ghee
1/2 tsp Cardamom powder
1 ¼ cup Jaggery

Cook ven pongal without salt and spices.

Grate the jaggery, add one cup water and microwave on high for 2 minutes. Mix it well once after a minute.

Using a strainer, remove the dirt from the jaggery water and keep the syrup again for 3 minutes on microwave high. Add the ven pongal and microwave on high for 3 more minutes.

Add the cardamom powder and roasted cashews for flavour and mix well.

After 3 minutes standing time, your sakkarai pongal is ready to eat.
